Manchester United legend Gary Neville hit back at Erik Ten Hag by calling him “delusional” after the Dutchman said that the Red Devils “can beat anyone”.
Man Utd beat Aston Villa 2-1 after a late Scott McTominay winner to continue their fight for the top-four spot and Ten Hag told reporters that the Red Devils can beat anyone.
"I think we can beat any opponent, away or at home," Ten Hag said after the victory at Villa Park. “Sometimes away we have to believe it more, we deserved to win at Arsenal and could have won at Liverpool. It's about belief."
Neville didn’t hold back after Ten Hag’s comments and stated that if the Dutchman thinks that they can beat any side in the world.
"They’re better than they were, but they’re still not great," United legend Gary Neville told Sky Sports after the Villa game.
"You still don’t see any patterns or combinations. They concede so many chances. They don’t control games. They don’t keep possession better than other teams. But they do have players who can win matches. They’re a bit of an odd bunch. They just play in moments during matches."
United were dominated by Unai Emery’s troops at Villa Park as they were overrun in the midfield. The home side dominated possession and also had more shots on target but the visitors got lucky and walked away with three points in the bag.
Man Utd sit sixth on the points table with 41 points from 24 matches while their next opponent Luton Town are 17th with just 20 points in 23 matches.
Remember, Man United have been knocked out of the UEFA Champions League after finishing last in their group, while they exited the Carabao Cup after losing to Newcastle United 3-0 back in November 2023.
